They say only drunks and children tell the truth. So when it comes to improv, I believe drunks and children should only be played one way — with complete and total honesty. That is to say, children are incredibly smart* and drunks rarely slur their speech (at least not in that comical, slapstick manner that, to me, always seems to strip away the varnish of a scene).
