Peacekeepers

A spokesman for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) denied on Monday claims aired in the Israeli press that peacekeepers had uprooted Hizbullah flags along the border. “Our aim isn’t to remove flags,” said Ari Gaitanis of UNIFIL. “That’s not our job. We are here to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.” (The Daily Star; May 15, 2007)
